Penrith is a traditional market town in central Cumbria in the north of England, situated in the Eden Valley between the Lake District National Park and the Pennine fells.

With a population approaching 15000, the town is at the centre of a largely rural community made up of outlying villages, and therefore forms a major hub for local commerce and administration.

Situated just off Junction 40 of the M6 motorway, the A66, the A6 and the A686 roads intersect in the town. Penrith is also a stop on the West Coast main rail line.
