This one-day conference is a response to the 2015 UN Environmental Programme World Environment Day (WED).
This conference focuses upon the role of tourism in encouraging an appreciation of the value of the natural environment and in raising environmental awareness. It is argued that, if eciently planned and managed, tourism could become an ally and a supportive economic, social and ultimately political force for conservation as the value of the environment becomes more widely appreciated, both psychologically and economically.
On the day, speakers will talk for 20 minutes and take questions for the remaining ten. The day is also structured to facilitate dialogue during breaks, and in the dedicated panel question and answer session at the end. For those participating on-line, questions can be sent in real-time and will be raised in the room.
