Sustainability is the timely theme of the first Appleby Remote Film Festival that ties in to Appleby’s own Apple Day.
10am-12noon and 1-3pm: Apple juicing sessions in Boroughgate Market Square with North Cumbria Orchards Group. Advice on orchards and apple growing in Cumbria.
Bring your apples - any type, eaters or cookers, clean and not bruised or rotten, to put through our presses. Take home delicious juice to drink or freeze. Please bring your own containers- 1kg of fruit will make approximately 600ml of juice.
2pm: This Changes Everything (2015/UC) based on the bestseller by Naomi Klein, why the climate crisis is the best opportunity we've ever had to build a better world.
3.30pm: Talk by Phil Davies (CAFS) on local low carbon initiatives.
4.30pm: Living the Change (2018/12A) Offers optimism, hope and suggestions for action for sustainability, showcasing a number of inspiring people who offer us a host of alternative solutions.
6.15-6.45pm: Pre Film Meal : In Public Hall. Pork and Apple. Vegetarian option from Appleby Edibles and cider from Mosser Orchard. Bookings .Please book food tickets in advance at Appleby TIC.
7pm: Woman at War (2018 /12A) an inspiring Icelandic film about one woman’s fight against the heartless industrialisation of her environment.
