3. Apple Day Plans

Apple Day at Acorn Bank (AB) 16th Oct 9am -3pm

PD needs a list of names to give AB as exhibitors. If people turn up with kit early on to help set up they will get in 'accidently' free.

The Wards are away and PD will be Mumming. As PD will be busy and AB want the fruit steamer as a juicing example.

PD will give a fruit steaming tutorial at the next meeting (07/10/11)

Possible people for Apple Day: Mike Doak, Clarkes,......

Should be thrown open to all PACT members to people the stall and needs to be promoted thru the website, if peeps bring their own fruit, containers and bucket to take home the mash for the compost they can take home their own juice (bucket not essential but v. handy)

A camping gaz/ bottle gas stove is needed for the stand (for the steamer I think, PC volunteered his.

The mobile oven will be there, oven firers and volunteers needed as PD busy, Tisch to do pizzas (apparently, I don't know if this is volunteering or volunteered)

Throw the stand duty open to Newton Rigg Students possibly.

4. Land Share/allotments update

5. Food Group Goals

Note from Lynn all the FG aims should be SMART- Specific, Measured, Achievable, Realistic, Timed

Will Lynn sort out aims?

Suspend FG goals 'til nxt mtg (i think every one should bring a couple of ideas to the meeting, have them all writ down, make sense of them remove duplicates, etc)

6. Local Food Directory update

Cumbrian Food Direct - cumbrianfooddirect.com they are a new local food clearing house/ veg box scheme who are launching soon, in theory Oct, check website for details

Local Food Directory- proceeding thru Nuture Lakeland (they are having an event soon) PW is dealing w/ this, he forgot/ didn't have time.

[ i have a note 'possibly CC, PD, or PC' i do not know if this relates to organising food directory creation, food events]

7. Date and time of next meeting

7th October 7:30 pm

8. AOB

Local food event ideas-

Food Freegle to help peeps off load their surplus'

PNR mkt - as the mkt on Tuesday is dieing if not dead, could PACT take over the market for a ltd. period on a negotiated rent, to inc. CR Food Alliance, Vista, Carlton Farm Shop, and Individuals w/ surplus. Also to possibly inc. a cooking stall where dishes made with food from the other stalls can be demoed and sold (see licensing and insurance headaches), also see the student perspective- meals based on -'what's in the fridge'

To co-incide w/ mkt take over the flower beds in Little Dockray to be suitably planted w/ food crops (spuds would be good fun)

Soup Days - based on the Bolton Exchange idea of offering 4 or 5 different soups at a well promoted event, a couple of quid for a home made soup and roll

(Maybe this idea could be tied in w/ the AGM SC)

PACT needs to be much more involved with Uni

PACT  (FG esp.) also needs to integrate more, give talks- get out to some WI and other similar groups, as much of what PACT stands for chimes with GOFV (good old fashioned values) of same organisations, (maybe they could have a table a the exchange, CR food alliance, farmer's mkt- w/o competing cookery unless commercially viable and not treading on toes)

Further encouragement to publish lists of books for the lending library online.

PACT revenue streams- fundraising ideas welcomed

-talk of selling polytunnel kits turned to talk of selling polytunnel plans as it was pointed out half the fun was salvaging the bits.

Everybody acknowledged that eating first at the mtg was a good idea, then move on to the agenda, it was a very convivial, actually people just really enjoyed sitting down relaxing w/ friends sharing food then moving on to issues we all care about.

Some chat about the green building fortnight.
