Chris Cant's advice is...
Autumn leaves rot down to make leaf mould - a pleasant, dark brown, crumbly material. Leaf mould is a good soil improver.

Make a container that will keep the leaves in.
Gradually fill with leaves in Autumn
Wait a year, then bag up to use, eg when planting tatties.
