DESCRIPTION:Become a local wildlife superhero for Great Big Green Week by helping us tackle invasive Himalayan balsam at Stainton’s old quarry – a lovely wildlife area filled with beautiful trees and orchids! \nAll are welcome and no previous experience is necessary. By yanking out this fast-growing\, non-native plant\, you will be giving our native orchids and important pollinators the room they need to thrive. It is easy\, incredibly satisfying\, and a fantastic workout! \nGood to know \nHere is some useful information if you are planning to join this volunteer event. If you have any questions\, please get in touch! \n\nWhat to wear: Old clothes are best! We highly recommend long-sleeve tops and trousers\, as you might be pulling out balsam amongst nettles and thistles. Please wear sturdy shoes or wellies.\nWhat to bring: A packed lunch\, drinks\, gardening gloves\, and sunscreen or waterproofs just in case.\nAges: All ages are welcome\, although the activity is perhaps not suitable for very young children.\nAccessibility: Please note that the ground is uneven\, which would make it difficult for wheelchairs.
