Do you have spare rooms in your house?
Do you fancy taking paying guests?
… guests that share your interests.
… supported by your community

This public meeting is a facilitated open discussion (run by HomeStay International in association with PACT) about forming a community group to offer visitors to the Penrith area a stay in local people’s homes – a “HomeStay”, where the emphasis is on matching guests and hosts that have similar interests.

The afternoon meeting is in two parts, each lasting about an hour, with a break. The first session will comprise a short presentation of the idea and then a discussion of the issues arising. Those who want to explore the idea further, and / or can imagine developing the idea of a community travel agency will be encouraged to stay for a second session.

  • The idea proposed is to initially form a group of people who know each other and can work together to offer HomeStays in their homes. The group will be mutually supportive to iron out any questions or difficulties that may arise.
  • The idea of a HomeStay is located somewhere comfortable in between the anonymous accommodation of a hotel and the intensity of staying with your personal friends. It will be up to each host to decide where to locate their comfort zone.
  • It may be that with certain guests, you will want to arrange outings and spend considerable time together. With other guests, your contact may be not much more than spending half an hour from time to time helping them orient themselves in the local area. The important thing will be to communicate clearly to guests how much time you can commit to spending with them.
