We will want to look at where to go with the Plastic Bag Free Penrith campaign.
The PACT Steering Group have been running theme discussion evenings every two months. There's a Transport one coming up on 7/12. Can we run one of these next year, eg on a Resources and Waste theme, or simply a Freegle theme?
Freegle nationally is working with some councils to have a "Spring into Reuse" campaign in March, April and May next year. Can we do something to support this?
Another Freegle Open Day is planned for the same venue, now reincarnated as the Carlisle Eden Mind 'Five' Café, near the clock tower memorial on Markey Square in the centre of Penrith. They will have tea/coffee available for sale on the day.
I'm afraid not enough of us can make the meeting tonight so it is postponed again.
Can I suggest for now that if anyone has any ideas or comments, they be circulated by email?
My own rough ideas:
- run a 'Bring your own bag' campaign in Penrith encouraging shoppers to take their own bags shopping, with posters in shops and articles and adverts in the paper. This is a watered down version of what we'd originally planned but is achievable within our limited resources.
A little story.... last week I posted a 'wanted' notice on Penrith & Eden Freegle for a sewing machine, and got 2 offers the same day (one from a PACT member actually!). I collected from the lady who made the first offer, it turned out to be an old Singer sewing machine very similar to one I've used previously. So far I've completed a couple of small projects on it and it seems to work very well, so a great acquisition and another example of the benefit of being a freegler.
