    Local student Amy Bray has set up sustainable living charity Another Way which is launching on 31st August. Another Waynwright Day aims to encourage as many people as possible to venture out onto the 214 Wainwright Lakeland Fells in Cumbria to demonstrate their commitment to the conservation and protection of the physical and natural environment.

    A first Repair Cafe is coming to Appleby Heritage Centre next to the Railway Station. There is free parking at the centre.If it's broken, don't bin it - fix it - at the free Appleby Repair Café. Our volunteers will try to help you repair your item if possible.Drop in for a chat over tea, coffee and cake - free but donations welcome.

    Sustainability is the timely theme of the first Appleby Remote Film Festival that ties in to Appleby’s own Apple Day.  We have selected four pertinent films that will inform, inspire and we hope incite you to help change the course of our planet. Saturday 19 Oct4pm film - Anthropocene: the Human Epoch, a recent release, witnesses the monumental human impact on our planet.6pm food: pork and apple casserole (also veggie option) followed by Tarte Tatin (fancy apple pie!)
