Cycling

Several of the National Cycle Network routes run through our district, including the Coast 2 Coast. Find out more >

Community transport

Visit the Westmorland & Furness Council website for information on a range of community transport options, such as the Voluntary Social Car Scheme and Rural Wheels minibus services.

Trains

We’re lucky to have two train lines in our area:

Penrith train station is on the main line between Scotland and London, operated by Avanti West Coast. There are stops in Carlisle to the north and Oxenholme near Kendal in the south of the county.

The Settle-Carlisle Railway line has a number of stops in the district. There are direct trains from Settle onwards to Leeds.

Coaches

Several coach operators stop in Penrith, with services to London and Scotland, along with other towns and cities. Big Green Coach runs from Penrith to selected events around the country.
